ATAPATTU APPOINTED SRI LANKA BATTING COACH...

Former Sri Lankan player Marvan Atapattu, appointed batting coach of Sri lankan cricket team.

Sri Lanka Cricket had shortlisted five coaches from several who had applied and currently they are left with former Assistant to Moody, Trevor Penny, current Assistant Coach Stuart Law and former England Assistant Coach, Mathew Maynard to chose from.

Australian John Buchanan, two time World Cup winning coach was among the five coaches shortlisted by Sri Lanka, but SLC was forced to drop him due to the sum he was going to cost the board. "In average, we pay the head coach something like 15,000 US$ a month, which turns out to be 180,000 US$ a year. But John (Buchanan) was asking something like 400,000 US$ per year and his contract had to be for four years," a Sri Lanka cricket official told..
