Pakistan's upcoming cricketer killed

PESHAWAR: Noman Habib, an upcoming pace bowler who stood out in the recent National T20 Championship, has been killed by unknown assailants in his hometown of Peshawar.

The dead body of Habib was found stuffed in a gunny bag this morning.

Police said Habib, a talented player on the national circuit, went missing since Monday and on Tuesday his body was found from a isolated place in Peshawar.

On Monday he played in a first round match of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in Peshawar and took seven wickets.

Police said they were investigating the reasons for the death of the young player who also represented Karachi Port Trust in domestic cricket.

Habib had impressed one and all with his bowling in the recent national T20 championship held in Karachi.

The Pakistan Cricket Board said it was shocked at the tragic death of Noman Habib.

Zakir Khan, Director Cricket Operations (Domestic) said, "He was a talented cricketer. We pray for the departed soul and share the grief of his family."
