Younus urged ex-cricketers & media to stop criticizing inexperienced youngsters

Younus, who was leading Abbotabad Falcons (which is out of the tournament)  in the ongoing National Twenty20 Championship, is not pleased with critical comments made by commentators and media on the performance of some players in the ongoing competition.

Abbotabad Falcons have a number of young players and criticism was directed at some after they lost close matches to Lahore Eagles and Karachi Zebras.

“If they harshly criticize the senior players, it is okay because we are now accustomed to this and adjust accordingly and perform as well. But I would request the media, commentators and experts to be careful while talking about the younger players as they take criticism to heart and lose focus and this upsets their careers,” the Nation quoted Younus, as saying.

“I appreciate that the media and commentators and experts have a big role to play in cricket and in a big event like this but they must give some leeway to the younger players who are still inexperienced and learning to cope with the pressure of top cricket. Criticism dents their confidence completely,” he added.

He further insisted that some of the youngsters might end up playing international cricket and do well.

Malik ignores akhtar biography

KARACHI: Preferring to play down the controversy stirred by Shoaib Akhtar's recently released biography 'Controversially Yours', in which he has made some tall claims, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik said there was no point in giving much importance to the pacer's book.

"When his own family does not take him seriously, I don't understand why is everyone taking his comments in his book seriously?," Malik told a TV channel in an interview, where he appeared with his wife, Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza.

Shoaib and Sania appeared on Tuesday's Geo TV morning show and spoke on issues concerning their lives and how marriage had changed things.

Sania said that she would like to see her husband accomplish a lot of milestones in international cricket and believed that he still has a lot to offer to Pakistan cricket.

"I am a fan of Shoaib, the cricketer, and believes he has lot of years of international cricket left in him. I want to see him reaching more milestones in the coming years," Sania, in a first ever detailed appearance on a Pakistani TV channel, said.

Sania admitted that the period when Shoaib was out of the Pakistan cricket team, she was constantly supporting him and telling him to keep his spirits up and keep on performing in domestic cricket.

"It has been a difficult time for us after marriage because both of us have had to travel a lot but we have remained very close to each other and constantly kept in touch," Sania said.

Describing her husband as a "romantic person", who fulfills her wishes even before she expresses them, Sania confirmed that the couple had first taken to liking each other and then their families met to finalise the wedding.

Stating that she doesn't like to comment on media reports concerning their married life and like to stay clear of controversies, Sania said, "I don't speak on these issues but no matter what people say we are very happy together and personally I am very satisfied and happy."

Sania and her family are presently in Karachi on a private visit with Shoaib, who is playing in the national T20 championship in the city.

Both the sportspersons also spoke about their desire to see their marriage helping in some way to bridge the troubled relations between Pakistan and India as a lot of things are common between the people of the two countries.

Sania, meanwhile, also talked about the successful doubles partnership between India's Rohan Bopanna and Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq in international tennis.

"I think what they are doing is creditable because them playing together shows that Pakistanis and Indians can get along well with each other," Sania said.

She also said that while it was difficult to see herself pairing up with Aisam on the international circuit, but not impossible.

Monday, 26 September 2011 Navjot Singh Sidhu slams Shoaib Akhtar for his sensational comments

Former Indian Test cricketer and opening batsman, Navjot Singh Sidhu, has slammed Pakistani fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar, for his remarks on Sachin Tendulkar and some other former cricketers of India and Pakistan.
Shoaib recently launched his book ‘Controversially Yours’ and made some sensational comments about Wasim Akram, Sachin Tendulkar, Shahrukh Khan and some other celebrities.
Sidhu, who has played alongside Sachin for a number of years, said that Tendulkar is one of the finest cricketers of the modern day cricket and he does not require a testimonial from any other cricketer. He rated Shoaib’s allegations as a mere act to gain cheap publicity.
Former Indian cricketer said, “A player (Sachin Tendulkar) who has conquered the whole world and stands tall like the Himalayas, can he be afraid of any bowler? It's just cheap publicity, there was no need for such a gimmick.”
Sidhu made his Test debut in 1983 against the West Indies and played 51 matches in his career. The opening batsman scored more than three thousand runs at an average of 42.13 runs per innings. He scored nine Test hundreds to go with his six in limited overs cricket.
Former cricketer turned politician said that Tendulkar has scored runs against Shoaib Akhtar many times in the past and youngsters all around the world consider the Little Master as their hero.
“Tendulkar has derailed the Rawalpindi Express (a name given to Akhtar for his fast deliveries) many a time. He is not a mortal but an institution in himself. His name is etched in world history forever,” claimed Sidhu.
While talking about the Indian captains in the last decade, Sidhu hailed both Sourav Ganguly and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He is of the opinion that the former consolidated the Indian cricket team, whereas, the later took it to amazing heights.
Sidhu added, “Both Sourav and Dhoni are remarkable captains. If Dada made a team of exciting youngsters, Dhoni led the team to the number one ranking in the world.”
Shoaib has been heavily criticized in Pakistan as well and many former cricketers have rubbished his allegations as mere publicity gimmicks.

Brain lara & little master Sachin tendulkar no doubt the great batsmen in the world .... that's why about them different analyst rate each of them in a different manner ..

mike said no doubt sachin is way ahead of lara if talking about runs but Lara was better in technique.lara was cunning said by holding. ..
talking about stats lara played the biggest knocks in first class & in tests as well  but tendulkar just reqd 1 more century to complete his international centuries..tendulkar playing for india for almost 23 years where as B.C lara took retirement from international cricket in 2007 .

imran khan , richard hadlee , kapil dev , beedi & abdul qadir lara was exceptional against those world class bowlers ..

Controversial why....

Controversial speedster Shoaib Akhtar, who questioned Sachin Tendulkar's ability to finish matches in his autobiography, Friday sought to play down the remarks by saying that he was only referring to a particular incident when he felt the star Indian batsman "was trying to save himself."
"I never said that Sachin was scared of me. I just said in the context about players not being comfortable on particular occasions. I have also felt that a number of times," Akhtar said at the launch function of his book 'Controversially Yours' here.
"It was one such occasion when Sachin had tennis elbow problem and was unable to hook and pull. On that particular day, I felt that Sachin was trying to save himself. That doesn't mean that he was buzhdil (coward). It's just when you are uncomfortable, whether you are tail-ender or Sachin Tendulkar, you tend to save yourself," he said.
Then lavishing praise on Tendulkar he said, "He has had a fabulous last few years. He is the greatest batsman. Unse humara kya muqabla (How can I be compared with Tendulkar)."
Akhtar also tried to set the record straight about what he actually meant when he said that Rahul Dravid was not a "match-winner".
"Again I would like to mention that I spoke about a particular phase. Dravid was always a nightmare for bowlers in Test matches. But again he transformed his game in the ODIs. So, it was about a particular time."
Shoaib didn't mince words when he said that a lot of fights are on in the Pakistan dressing room.
"But thank God, we atleast fought in the dressing rooms but your Harbhajan Singh slapped someone in the open," he said in jest referring to the off-spinner's infamous slap on Sreesanth.
On the best international batsmen he has bowled to, he said "Brian Lara is the best batsmen I have bowled to but I have enjoyed my duels with Matthew Hayden. He liked taking me on and I liked taking him on. Also Justin Langer would be very irritating as he would slip through me while running between the wickets."

why shaoib akhtar raise finger on wasim akram who is the inspirational of all youngestors ...

why this auto biography is controversial .. why he choose name like this ..

whether he do all these things for fame or whether he disclosed these things to get more attraction towards his autobiography so each & every one will take interest in his autobiography ....

the ex cricketers of Pakistan criticize shoiab akhtar with some strict words they said first they don't want to say any thing about this first his autobiography will published then they can say any thing but they said raising finger on world class left arm fast bowler wasim akram . is just a shit..

but the name of auto biography is also controversial like speed star so we can expect how controversial it will be ..

SACHIN & DRAVID NOT THE NAME OF MATCH WINNERS SAID SPEED STAR.

Some key points of Shoaib Akhtar's book "Controversially yours"

- Sachin tendulkar was scared of me. I bowled (Sachin) a particularly fast ball which he, to my amazement didn't even touch. He walked away! That was the first time I saw him walk away from me-that, too, on the slow track at Faisalabad." I was alive when Tendulkar got clean bold by Shoaib akhtar on first ball

- Sachin and Dravid are not match winners
...

- Former Pakistani captain Wasim Akram threatened to pull out of the team with half the side if Shoaib Akhtar found a place in the team. "Wasim Akram threatened to walk out with half the team if I was included in the team. General Tauqir Zia backed Shoaib (Malik) against Wasim." Shoaib Malik doesn't deserve to be captain and was made captain because he was a stooge(Chamcha) of the PCB Chief Naseem Ashraf," states Akhtar.

- Shahrukh Khan and Lalit Modi cheated me in IPL, i should never listen to them, i regret on that.

- Shoaib Akhtar also said that he tampered with the cricket ball in number of times. He claimed that it’s not just him but everyone does it. As a solution he suggested that ball tampering should be legalised in the larger interest of the game.

Inzamam calls for Indo-Pak series in Sharjah

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has welcomed the return of Sharjah Cricket Stadium as a venue for Pakistan’s upcoming home series against Sri Lanka followed by England’s tour. With foreign teams reluctant to tour Pakistan over security concerns, Inzamam described Sharjah as the next best destination away from home. “It’s a great venue and if India and Pakistan matches are held here it will be of great significance. Both the communities here are vast and people will get an opportunity to witness some great cricket. They will come in big numbers.
The ground has witnessed highest number of ODIs and this would be really great for cricket. If it starts again it will be very good,” he was quoted as saying by website emirates 247.com on Thursday.
Sharjah will host a Test match after nine years and also a one-day international during Pakistan’s series against Sri Lanka which begins next month.
Inzamam called for the regularisation of India-Pakistan series because fans of both countries are keen to see their cricketers playing against each other as evidenced during the turbo-charged World Cup semifinal.
“There will be strong competition and cricket will be played at a top level. It will generate interest among the youngsters and the passion will grow and the game will also improve among the teams,” he added.
“If it does not happen in the home country, they can have in a neutral venue and people will surely come where ever it is held,” he said endorsing Sharjah as the ideal neutral venue.
Talking of schedules, he blamed an overdose of cricket for the injuries to India’s players during their disastrous tour of England although acknowledging the hosts were the better team. “Earlier there were decent gaps between matches. Players were getting sufficient rest and in a year there were only six to eight Tests and 15 to 20 ODIs.
“So this gave players enough time to recover. But now the players don’t have so much of time. So when a player is injured he does not get the proper rest required and he plays and aggravates injuries,” said Inzamam.
He also felt that players found it difficult to switch gears from Tests, one-day and Twenty20 formats of the game though not finding fault with the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL). “India for the last six months have been playing only the shorter format and suddenly playing the longer version affected their temperament.
They were already under pressure and because of mounting injury list during the series it became difficult for them to win. It’s not because of IPL or anything but because of too much of cricket which increases the risk of injuries,” he said.
He also urged all-rounder Shahid Afridi to resolve his differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board and make a comeback to the sport. “He is a good player and if he comes back it’s good for the team but first the differences between him and the board have to be sorted out. It is not good when players and board fight through the media,” he said.
One-day skipper Afridi quit international cricket after being stripped of captaincy during the tour of West Indies. Coach Waqar Younis also subsequently resigned citing personal reasons.
However, Inzamam felt there was no need to appoint a foreign coach because there were so many experienced past players to choose from in Pakistan.
“I don’t think we need to search for a coach outside Pakistan. I think in Pakistan there are so many great players capable of being coach,” he said.
Inzamam said they should pick someone who has experience in all three formats of the game. “Saeed Anwar is there, Mushtaq Ahmed is coaching in England, Saqlain Mushtaq has coached in New Zealand. So we have players who have served as coaches in different countries. So the Pakistan board has to hire such players which will benefit the team,” he said.

ALeem dar demands central contract for top umpires

Aleem Dar, Pakistan’s national hero in cricket umpiring, Wednesday said that winning the ICC best umpire award for the third consecutive year was a great achievement for him but actually it was the award for the country and the nation who prayed a lot for this honour for him.
Talking to Waqt News exclusively, Dar said: “The third award in a row is a result of prayers of the nation who love me a lot and it is actually the award of the nation.”
“It is a great honour for me to get the award for my country and I shall try to maintain my performance to win more awards for my country. I try to carry out my job with utmost honesty and it is the only secret behind my success,” said Aleem, who has officiated in 67 Tests, 146 one-dayers and 18 Twenty20 matches.
Dar said that award’s hat-trick was a great honour for him and he really worked hard for it as the year of 2010 was very tough especially umpiring in World Cup was tough task but by the grace of Allah, he had done done his best and got rewarded for his hard work.
He also demanded central contract for top umpires of the country like the national team players had been having for their better livelihood. “Umpiring is never easy amongst technology paraphernalia and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should give attention to this field as well by giving central contracts to the top umpires of the country so that Pakistani umpires continue winning laurels for the country.”
He said that along with right decisions, the report of captains also mattered a lot. “The captains of most of the teams trust me a lot and report me positively which matters a lot along with right decisions.”
He further said that top ranking teams of the world always wish to have me as umpire in their matches. “The top ranking teams like Australia, England and South Africa want me to umpire their matches and they have good trust in me.” He said that it was unfortunate for Pakistan that no international team was coming here. He also underscored the need to give more heed to domestic cricket.

SHAHID AFRIDI’S RETURN TO PAKISTAN TEAM REMAINS BESIEGED

Shahid Afridi’s return to the Pakistan national squad still remains in shambles after a meeting, involving various sportspersons and officials such as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Chairman, Ijaz Butt, who called on President Asif Ali Zardari in Karachi, concluded without any discussion on the hard hitter’s return to the national roster.
Previously, the estranged Afridi had awaited the meeting with the nation’s Premier, who is also the Chief Patron of the PCB, hoping that the rendezvous may come out with some conclusion for the ‘Boom Boom’ Khan’s ongoing rift with PCB and its infamous Chairman Butt.
However, not just Afridi, another former Pakistani Captain, Javed Miandad, who is now a senior PCB official, and ironically shares a similar faith as Afridi, also had planned on discussing his rift with Butt and the Board since Miandad was slammed by PCB for not responding to a show cause notice that was issued to him for ‘violating his terms of employment’ after Miandad came out with loud criticism against PCB’s flawed working practices, citing that 90% of the Board’s decisions are erroneous.
Unfortunately, for both the former skippers, it was Butt, who as expected, outplayed Afridi and Miandad, as none of their issues were raised during the meeting.
In case of Afridi, though the player was present at the meeting, alongside other cricket veterans such asMohsin Khan, it was learnt that the President concluded the meeting without having a one-to-one word with Afridi.
On the other hand, Miandad was outplayed after his request to shift the upcoming national Twenty20 event from Lahore to Karachi due to threats of the dengue outbreak were turned down by Butt.
According to a source, rather than finding a notion to the conflict, it was learnt that the President’s main concern during the rendezvous revolved around how the cricket fraternity can help the government in raising funds for the flood victims in Sindh.
As for Afridi, the Pakistani heartthrob, who recently led his roster close to a World Cup final, left the Bilawal House without speaking to the media, after it was also found out that the Premier failed to heed on the star player’s issue.
