Former Pakistan captain, shahid afridi, has filed a legal petition challenging the validity of the sanctions imposed on him by the PCB, his lawyer has said. The petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court asking for a stay against the suspension of his contract and the revocation of his NOC to play country cricket in Hampshire.

The case is the latest development in the ongoing dispute between Afridi and the national board that began when Afridi publically revealed his disagreements with team coach Waqar Younis after the tour of the West Indies. A three-member disciplinary committee is set to hear the case on June 8 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. It is unclear if Afridi will attend, and the board is considering whether to go ahead with the hearing even in his absence.

Afridi had announced his retirement from international cricket after being replaced by Misbah-ul-Haq as one-day captain, while simultaneously attacking unnamed members of the board.
