Peter Roebuck , A Cricket intellectual par excellence, is no more
A glorious era in cricket journalism comes to an end. A man so dauntless, so perceptive, so full of knowledge and wisdom is no more;,the acclaimed cricket writer Peter Roebuck,55, has been found dead at a hotel in Cape Town, South Africa.
According to one report, Roebuck appeared to be in a disturbed state last night. He was spoken to by police in his room on the sixth floor of the Southern Sun Hotel, Newlands, in Cape Town about 10pm.
It is believed police removed personal items from his room. His body was taken to the mortuary in the early hours of the morning
Roebuck,who scored more than 17,000 first class runs, was instrumental in the departure of West Indians Viv Richards and Joel Garner, as well as England captain Ian Botham, from Somerset during his tempestuous reign as captain in the late 1980s.
After retiring from the game in 1991, Roebuck moved to Australia and forged a career as a stylish and strongly opinionated cricket writer for the Herald, Melbourne's the Age and latterly the Cricinfo website.he is truly unparalleled - a most modern scribe with gift of thought and penmanship.He was one hell of a writer,he could describe his point and write in such a way that even if you didn't like the game, you liked the way that he went about his business.
A very powerful voice in the world of cricket has been silenced ,Khelopakistan and the members of the international cricket community will miss him.

PCB requests BCCI to restart ties
It has emerged today that the Pakistan Cricket Boards Chairman, Mr Zaka Ashraf has written to his BCCI counterpart, Mr N Srinivasan and asked to look at a tour in the near future.
Its been reported that he has said it is time the neighbouring nations re-start their cricketing ties.
Mr Ashraf has said Pakistan is willing to tour India and the Indian board and Government should give it a good thought and consideration.
If the request is accepted it will hopefully be the first of many ties between the greatest rivals in the cricketing world.

Mohsin Khan will continue as interim coach of Pakistan for the series against Bangladesh, which starts later this month. The PCB said the decision to retain Mohsin was taken as a full-time coach had not yer been identified.Mohsin was initially put in charge of the team in early October, ahead of the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, after Waqar Younis stepped down from the post citing health reasons. Pakistan won the Test series 1-0 in the UAE, and started the limited-overs leg of the contest on Friday.
The PCB had formed a committee in late August to find Waqar' successor and though it arrived at a shortlist of five candidates a month later, no full-time coach has yet been appointed. The committee was constituted by the previous PCB chairman Ijaz Butt but the process was delayed as Butt completed his three-year tenure and was replaced by Zaka Ashraf last month.
Apart from the head coach, the PCB has also advertised for three other coaching roles - national batting, bowling and fielding coach. The closing date for receiving applications was set as November 18.
Pakistan play two Tests, three ODIs and a Twenty20 against Bangladesh in a series that begins on November 29.

Afridi took 3-27 in his first match since returning from a six-month exile, helping Pakistan dismiss Sri Lanka for a paltry 131 in 40.3 overs before Younus Khan and Imran Farhat hit fifties to anchor the chase at Dubai stadium.
Pakistan lost Mohammad Hafeez (five) in the second over of their innings but Farhat added 103 for the second wicket stand with Younis Khan (56 not out) to ensure a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Farhat hit leg-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna for his seventh boundary to reach his ninth one-day fifty but with only 17 needed he was trapped leg-before wicket by paceman Suranga Lakmal for 50.
Younis, whose fifty was his 45th in one-dayers, took the team past the target in just 21.5 overs. He hit seven boundaries during his 57-ball knock.
Pakistan were on course for a comprehensive win thanks in large part to Afridi, who finished with 3-27 and was ably supported by Saeed Ajmal (2-21) and Mohammad Hafeez (2-24) as Sri Lanka lost their last seven wickets for 54 after opting to bat.
Dinesh Chandimal top-scored with 28 while opener Tharanga Paranavitna (25) and Mahela Jayawardene (24) were other notable scorers but none went on to make a big score against some lethal spin bowling.
Sri Lanka lost Tillakaratne Dilshan in the second over of the match, bowled by paceman Aizaz Cheema for four.
With their captain back in the pavilion, Sri Lanka did not recover as wickets continued to fall, in-form Kumar Sangakkara falling for five after struggling through 24 deliveries.
Chandimal and Paranavitana added 30 for the third wicket before Pakistan's spinners ran riot, grabbing the last seven wickets for a mere 54 runs.
Afridi, who only last month decided to go back on a decision to retire from international cricket in protest at being sacked as one-day captain, struck in his first over of the match.
Chandimal hit him for a six off his fourth ball, but the leg-spinner had him leg-before the very next ball. Chandimal hit two sixes and a four off 31 balls.
The 31-year-old Afridi then dismissed Prasanna (five) and Lasith Malinga (11) during his incisive 9.3 overs spell.
Jayawardene and Paranavitana were the others to provide some resistance but they too departed to spinners.
The second match will also be played in Dubai on Monday. The remaining matches are scheduled for Dubai (November 18), Sharjah (November 20) and Abu Dhabi (November 23).
The teams will also play a Twenty20 in Abu Dhabi on November 2
