Pakistan just simply outclass west indies in every department in quarter finals when the game start its looked like that after winning the toss westindies will post the huge total on the board but their all plans gone to dashed when in the third over thier one of the fire power chris gayle gone on the bowling of umar gul after that it was nothing left many for the westindies team and their all team out on just 112

WAQAR DEFENDED WRECKLESS AFRIDI
Pakistan coach refuses to slam his skipper’s repeated poor shot selection in crunch moments.
By Soumitra Bose in ColomboWaqar Younis was at his diplomatic best at Saturday night’s media conference after Pakistan consigned Australia to their first defeat in 35 World Cup matches by four wickets. Waqar was facing the media after skipper Shahid Afridi ducked the post-match chat, probably aware that he would surely be asked questions about his “doom-doom” batting.
Waqar refused to flay his profligate skipper, who has repeatedly abused his batting position to play poor shots and get out at critical times. The four-wicket Pakistan win on Saturday may look convincing on paper but had Australia had another 30-40 runs in their kitty – the defending world champions made 176 – it could have been another story.
With Pakistan 139 for five in the 32nd over, Afridi walked in at No. 7 to partner a confident Umar Akmal. The Aussie quickies were on fire and the situation demanded a calm and calculated approach as Pakistan needed all of 38 runs to win. But then composure has never been Afridi’s trademark. The 31-year-old seldom looks to carry the wisdom of batting in 299 ODI innings. His fire and brimstone demeanor can certainly be counterproductive as it almost did on Saturday night.
In the fourth ball that Afridi faced, he lofted off-spinner Jason Krejza only to find Brett Lee at long-on. He scored just 2 runs, but Afridi’s exit certainly pressed the panic buttons in the Pakistan dressing room. Waqar, however, was not prepared to chastise his skipper.
“That’s the way he bats. If the ball had crossed the ropes, you would have said it was a brilliant stroke. Afridi is a striker of the ball and loves his strokes, but one can say the situation wasn’t right today. Probably he backed himself and didn’t get it right,” explained Waqar, almost certainly masquerading his genuine thoughts, with panache.
Afridi’s exit left the door ajar for Abdul Razzaq to leave his stamp as a quality all-rounder in a big game. Razzaq did this with great confidence and even on a wicket that had dual bounce, he timed the ball well. He closed the game with two back-to-back boundaries off Krejza, the first slapped through mid-wicket and the winning stroke smacked past extra-cover. Razzaq’s unbeaten 20 off 24 balls were decisive and if Pakistan sailed through, it was because of him.
Razzaq was certainly a contender for the Man of the Match award that finally went to Umar Akmal for his fluent and unbeaten 44 under pressure. On Saturday afternoon, Razzaq used the old ball well. He came in to bowl at No. 5 and broke at least one burgeoning partnership with some intelligent use of line and length. He bowled Michael Clarke for 34 and then caught the edge of Mitchell Johnson’s dangerous bat with a ball that cut off the seam.
This time, Waqar’s thoughts looked genuine. “His experience showed, especially when he bowled. Razzaq took two wickets and I thing those were important moments where the game changed in our favour,” the former speed-king and skipper said.
A win has a great impact on Pakistani cricket that has passed through a lot of lows in recent times. More importantly, a victory against Australia is always unique, especially when it comes almost after 12 years. The team savoured Saturday’s win into the wee hours of Sunday at the Hilton. shoaib akhtar will retire from the international game at the end of Pakistan's World Cup, bringing to a close one of cricket's most compelling and mercurial careers. Privately, over the last few months, Shoaib had been looking at the World Cup as a final hurrah for a body increasingly unable to cope with the rigours of the international game.
On Wednesday evening, at a Pakistan High Commission function in Colombo, he told a handful of reporters, including ESPNcricinfo, that he would make the announcement on Thursday. After Pakistan's training session at the Premadasa, Shoaib arrived in jacket and trousers and told the press of a decision he had made, fittingly for him perhaps, in a hospital bed after yet another knee surgery two years ago.
"Today I step ahead for the most significant phase of my life and walk off," he read out from a prepared statement. "I have decided to say goodbye. This World Cup is my last and the coming matches in the tournament would be the last few of my international career. Mentally I wanted to continue perhaps forever. But I must make way for youngsters to take over."
He said he had discussed the matter with the team management during the tour to New Zealand earlier this year, but decided to go ahead with it only now, dousing speculation that he might have been pushed into it. His Pakistan team-mates were told of the decision at the Premadasa on Thursday morning during an emotional gathering in the dressing room, where he delivered a farewell speech and was embraced by fellow players and support staff.
"There was sadness there," Shoaib said of the occasion, before joking that a retirement on his own terms was unique enough to shock them. "The whole team knew this was going to happen but they didn't want to believe this was going to happen because they played with me long enough. They were very sad about it but at the same time happy for me, for my next few matches, whatever is left in me. It might seem a little awkward to them as this is the first time in Pakistan that someone is leaving cricket on this note. Felt a little awkward. So, I would say they were a little shocked."
The tournament itself has been a mixed one for him. Whether or not he gets another chance to script a different ending, which currently has him being hit for 28 runs in his last over by Ross Taylor, including the last ball for six, is likely to be the subject of much speculation ahead of Saturday's game against Australia. He was outstanding through ten overs in Pakistan's win over Sri Lanka, but his fitness and energy, particularly during later spells, has concerned the Pakistan team set-up.
As if released, he fairly sprinted in to bowl in the nets, running in faster and bowling - to the naked eye at least - quicker than he has been. He believes he could've played on for another year or two, but for the moment, he said, he will do everything he can for his side in the World Cup.
"I am available for every match and working really hard and bowling as quick. My pace is still there, I am not slowing down. My pace is up there. Playing is up to the management. I am going to double my efforts. Any possible way I can help Pakistan, and with every ounce of blood that is left in my body, I will serve my country. I play or if I don't play I don't know, but I'm working hard, I'm training hard. I had a great session today. I'm focusing on the match against Australia. If I don't play I will make sure every guy gets my help and if nothing else then I will carry water onto the field."
A myriad of off-field run-ins with the establishment and players - he smiled mischievously when thanking "my dear PCB" - and an endless list of injuries heavily curtailed his career, impact and legacy. He played in only 46 of the 84 Tests Pakistan played since his debut in November 1997 and 163 ODIs - a relatively small number for a subcontinent player - in over 13 years. This tournament has been typical. Questions over his fitness have been ever-present and he has been fined by the team management for several breaches of curfew, as well as for a spat with Kamran Akmal during and after the New Zealand loss. Yet, Shoaib insisted, he would not have done it differently.

"Whenever I had a chance, even with niggles and during the pain and the most horrifying days of the pain, I still never said no to Pakistan," he said. "I always made myself available. There are no regrets. You always knew me as not the fittest man or bowler. I always played in pain. I always played half-unfit. So the fitness issue has always been there, still there.
"This was written in my life and it had to happen. It's part of the process that you grow up and go through such times and you grow out of it. You become 35 and you get mature. We come from a very humble background. We always learn that cricket is our institution and we learn swimming, driving, anything you name it we learn from there. So obviously you've got to give us a bit of a chance, a span of 10-15 years to learn. There are no moments I regret."
Even in this interrupted, half-full career, there were enough Shoaib moments for his time of passing to be a genuinely sad one. The two balls to silence Eden Gardens were, understandably given his thirst for big-name scalps, among his own highlights. The 100mph ball in the 2003 World Cup was another but the most memorable was a simpler one, a surprising one perhaps, of the moment he first wore the Pakistan Test kit.
"The first day, when I got announced for Pakistan, I did not believe that someone like me could play for this greatest team ever," he said, unable to suppress a smile. "And there were my idols like Wasim and Waqar, and Imran was there to support us every now and again … Inzamam, everyone, every senior player I used to see on TV. I always dreamed of playing with them. The best moment was when I got the first kit for my first Test and I had a huge star on my chest. I wore that kit and I slept in it and I couldn't believe I would wake up in it. I did not take it off for three days."
Towards the end, there was the distinct possibility of tears - "do you want me to cry?" he asked when translating his thoughts into Urdu - but he held them back. "Playing for Pakistan was a dream. Yes, it was a dream," he said and then walked off, to hugs and handshakes all around.

Kamran Akmal is too heavy, says Rashid Latif
It was a simple, regulation catch but Pakistan’s players celebrated it as if Kamran Akmal had held a blinder to dismiss Zimbabwe’s Brendan Taylor in the very first over of their World Cup Pool A game here on Monday.
Shahid Afridi, the Pakistan captain, patted Kamran on his cheeks while their teammates joined the celebration after Taylor — Zimbabwe’s most dangerous batsman — was dismissed on the fifth ball of the day by medium pacer Abdul Razzaq. The bowler was almost ignored as Kamran took centre-stage.
Five days back at the same venue, Kamran had allowed a double reprieve to another Taylor and he made Pakistan pay for the let-offs. Ross Taylor, the New Zealand vice-captain, smashed an incredible 131 to guide his team to a 110-run triumph and Kamran seemed to be in serious trouble.
Pakistan thought about replacing Kamran with his younger brother — Umar — behind the stumps but the younger Akmal was ruled out of the match against Zimbabwe because of an injured finger.
Like the number 23 that he wears on his shirt, Kamran has become quite an enigma.
His supporters regard him as a perfect choice as wicketkeeper at least for the limited-overs game because of his batting skills.
But his critics, who seem to outnumber Kamran’s supporters quite overwhelmingly, believe he is one of the weak links in the Pakistan team because of the opportunities he squanders behind the stumps and should be replaced by a more reliable gloveman.
So what’s dogging Kamran, who began his career as a bright young cricketer and was once regarded among the leading stumpers in international cricket?
The problem could be his weight, comments Rashid Latif, the former Pakistan wicketkeeper.
“When he (Kamran) joined the Pakistan cricket team in 2002 his weight was 68-kg but now he weighs 79-kg. He is over-weight because a wicket-keeper in international cricket should be under-weight like a jockey,” Latif told ‘The News’ on Monday.
Latif, a former Pakistan captain, recommends that Kamran should do some long-distance running regularly. “During off season, he should run 10 miles every day. Apart from that, swimming, crunches, push-ups and heavy short sprints can also help him.”
Latif believes that heavy training in the gym has ‘destroyed’ Kamran.
“Gym training has destroyed his career,” he says. “He looks like a beach boy rather than a cricketer.”
Kamran is also dogged by other issues, says Latif. “His concentration level is not good, he seems mentally disturbed. That’s why there are so many lapses behind the stumps.”
The 29-year-old Kamran has scored 2835 from 133 One-day International appearances at an average of 27.25 and has struck five ODI tons. But his last century (116 not out) came almost two years back against Australia in Abu Dhabi and since then he has rarely played any big knocks.
Latif is of the view that Kamran can do better with the bat if he shows more patience at the crease. “He is good batsman but he tries too many shots early on. He can improve his wicket-keeping and batting if he is willing to work harder.”
