PCB chief hopeful of Indo-Pak series soon

Indo-Pak bilateral cricket could be in for an early revival with PCB chief Ijaz Butt saying that the modalities of a possible series are being worked out with BCCI officials.

Butt, who visited India recently and met with the BCCI officials, hinted at a breakthrough during discussions with his counterparts.

"I held discussions with Indian officials," Butt told 'The Express Tribune' newspaper in an interview.

"Both countries have shown their eagerness for the revival of the series. We are working on finalising terms and conditions and fans will hear the good news soon," he said. The PCB chairman, however, termed reports that the series would be played at a neutral venue as premature.

"We are still at a stage of finalising things. Confirming anything on the venue would be premature," he said.

But the tight international schedule of the two teams could be a major roadblock.

India are unlikely to fit in the series this year due to a hectic schedule while the scheduled series is also clashing with the Asia Cup.

"This is why the two boards are not confirming anything," said a PCB official.

"They're working on the creation of a window for the series as soon as possible. While there have been meetings to discuss the arrangement of the bilateral series, India, with their packed schedule, are unlikely to create a window."

Mohammad Amir | One Year On...A fan's Journey!

27th August 2010, sitting in the stands at Lords was a dream. I had just turned 28 years old that day, and was at the ground to watch my hero's play the game I love more than myself. What i witnessed that day, I wrote in my article,  The next few months were trying to say the least.

I've supported Amir throughout his ordeal. Petitions, that were posted to the PCB, in person to the High Commission of Pakistan in London to fight for a boy that I believed had not received the support he should have received from the authorities that could have advised a kid better. A kid that came from a poor background had been left in a big world without any real support.

In the past year we have seen the players banned for five years, minimum, and charged by the Met Police for corruption. I have read the entire transcript and there is little doubt that the spot-fixing happened for real. The idea that it was a fabricated story and stitch up doesn't work anymore. Amir was always looked by me as a kid that had got stuck in a big world... until now

They say tough times make people grow up, but has Amir learned from his mistake? When it comes to your career, you forget loyalties and do whatever possible to help your OWN career, has Amir done so? NO! Amir has had ample chances to come clean to the ICC but has not done so. His shown his loyalty to Salman Butt, but not to his own career and Pakistan Cricket. For that alone, in my opinion, Amir has not done his duty, as a human, as a Pakistani. Pakistan Cricket deserves better than a kid that has not grown a touch in a year. Pakistan Cricket, and its fans deserve better than Mohammad Amir and his ego....

Pakistan has announced the squad which has a good mixture experience and youth. Even if you look at the squad you get a feeling that leaving out Umar Gul and Wahab Riaz will make bowling weak.The return of Sohail Tanvir is a boost for Pakistan bowling attack,

because this time around sohail tanvir will want to secure his place for longer period of time, As Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq both failed to make it to the squad for various reasons this provides golden opportunity for Sohail Tanvir be the regular feature of Pakistan Cricket Team.

Along with Sohail tanvir, Junaid khan the young fast bowler who made a lot of noise during his county stint with the Lancashire. He is just two series old and will have a huge role to play in Zimbabwe to ensure that he is not just a stock bowler but a front-line seamer who is good enough to lead the prestigious Pakistan pace attack. Junaid khan is just seven games old and this is his big opportunity to prove himself as to be good enough bowler in ranks of
Pakistan Fast Bowlers.

Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali has the same point to prove, both are lacking the same thing, which is to cross a hundred-Run barrier, Due to his terrific temperament he is now a permanent member of the test squad but after some significant scores he has still failed to reach a milestone of 100 run which every batsman dreams of out of the 12 test matches played he has gone past 50-run mark 8-time but still not able to convert those scores into century.

Though you might say the pressure is building on him for not scoring a century but I believe his calmness n cool head overcomes all such factors and you ll still see him focused as he has always been. Asad shafiq has even more to prove in comparison to Azhar Ali because he has failed to make a century in both formats (TESTS & ODIS).This is the time for both of them to make a huge impact in international cricket arena and also a perfect opportunity for to prove themselves long race horses.

Rameez Raja Jnr has given a go at the international cricket , probably people will have less expectation from him but the point is he must learn from what has happened with Usman Salahuddin ,Umar Amin, Shahzeb Hassan and many others .Seeing the trend in Pakistan Cricket this might be his first and last chance to prove himself. I really hope he is sensible enough to make full use of this opportunity provided & score runs because only runs will keep your place in the Pakistan side , (if you are not AN Imran Farhat.)

Now turning to another department that needs to be corrected as soon as possible, off course I m talking about Wicket keeping. Adnan Akmal will have a full-series to play ,he has shown a lot of commitment behind the stumps and this time if he can perform with his willow too then all his competitors can sell there gloves because Adnan Akmal will be answer to long problem of Pakistan wicket keeping. I Hope he shows his strength with the bat also and close the door for his elder brother Kamran Akmal !

Sohail Khan, after impressive domestic season and a lot of hard work is finally backed in contention. Zimbabwe will be an easier opponent but you have to bowl those wicket taking balls .Sohail khan has pace and due to his good height he will be able to generate bounce from most of the surfaces. He would also like to cement his place in the Pakistan side as the senior duo of Umar Gul and Wahab Riaz are rested for this tour of Zimbabwe, This provides a golden opportunity for Sohail khan to make his mark in the international Cricket.

As for Aizaz Cheema & Yasir Shah, I think the opportunities will be very limited and they might have to wait for the proper chances.Yasir Shah might get a chance in the only test match to be played.
