Under Misbah ul Haq's captaincy Team Pakistan has played 10 matches, won 4 and lost 1 match only; which makes Team Pakistan's Win/Loss under Captain Misbah to be exactly 4.00

4.00 is the highest W/L ratio for any Pakistani Captain who has captained 10 or more test matches. Moreover Team Pakistan has never lost a series under the guidance of Misbah-ul-Haq but sure has won 2 big series.

Misbah's leadership hasn't just won the matches for us but also has affected the performance of other individuals as well.

PAKISTAN NAMED THE TEST SERIES BY 1-0 AGAINST SRI LANKA

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka test series was started from October 18, 2011. 1st match of the test series was resulted in draw, at the beginning it was looking to be in Pakistan favor but Sri Lanka did a strong come back in 2nd inning. In 1st inning Junaid Khan picked 5 wickets for the first time in test cricket,in reply Taufeeq Umar scored a double Hindered (235). After facing the lead of 314 runs it was looking to be a resulted match in favor of Pakistan.Sangakara with the help of Pakistani fielders scored 2nd double hundred (211) of the match. In chasing of 94 runs Pakistani openers looked so defensive and scored 21 runs in 10 overs. KC Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) win the man of the match award for his brilliant 211 in 2nd inning which saved the match from loss.

                                

Second test match was started on October 26, once against Pakistani bowlers dominated and thrashed Sri Lanka on 239 runs in 1st inning. Azhar Ali hundred helped Pakistan crossing 400 mark in 1st inning and gave lead of  164 runs. In 2nd inning Sri Lanka batting collapsed and scored only 257 runs. Pakistan had to chase 94 runs target in 2nd inning which they achieved in 24.1 overs while loosing 1 wicket. Saeed Ajmal for his 8 wickets in both innings and 20 runs received the man of the match award.

After the lead of 1-0 in first 2 matches Pakistan host Sri Lanka in Sharjah after long time. 3rd match started on 3rd of November, once again Sri Lanka batted 1st and scored 413 runs in 1st inning. Kumar Sangakara was the top scorer who scored 144 runs in 1st inning total. In reply Pakistan bowled out on 340 runs. Younas Khan scored 122 runs for Pakistan. With the lead of 73 runs, Sri Lanka declared the 2nd inning on 181/6 and gave target of  255 runs to Pakistan. In reply, Pakistan scored 87/4 in 57.0 runs. Match ended with the decision of umpires when they saw bad light effecting the game. The 3rd match ended without any result and with this draw Pakistan win the series by 1-0. Kumar Sangakara didn't received man of the match award only but also man of the series award jointly with Saeed Ajmal. ODI series first match will be started on November 11, 2011

SHAHID AFRIDI CLAIMS BANNED TRIO WERE JUST LIKE HIS OWN BROTHERS

Former Pakistani skipper, Shahid Afridi claims that the Men In Green trio, Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were just like brothers to him after the convicted men were handed jail sentence by Justice Cook.

In a sad day for cricket, Butt was sentenced for 2 years and six months for his involvement in spot-fixing, while Asif suffered a 1 year jail sentence. Amir, the youngest of the lot faced 6 months in prison after the court failed to offer any leniency in their verdict.

The left-hander ex-skipper, Butt was charged for conspiracy to cheat, accept and obtain corrupt payments, while Asif was jailed on accounts for conspiracy to cheat, after no money was found under his possession when the event took place.

Amir, along with bookie, Mazhar Majeed, who earned the maximum jail sentence of 2 years and 8 months, had pleaded guilty which resulted in a reduced sentence.

Afridi, who played with all three of the banned trios was dejected by the whole incident; however, felt that such verdict was necessary for the sport to remain clean forever. He somewhat blamed the Pakistan Cricket Board for not taking the initiative of defining boundaries for players, while also claimed that the players do not earn as much as they should.

The all-rounder also added that he considered the trio just like his own brothers and claimed that young players are enticed into wrongdoings due to lack of awareness.

"The players were like brothers to me. I have never been approached by a bookie but I know that young players are trapped into it (spot-fixing)," said Afridi.

Earlier, the player announced his conditional retirement from cricket after a public row with former coach, Waqar Younis and ex-chairman, Ijaz Butt. However, with the two men gone from the helm, he made himself available for selection and was immediately recalled for the national team’s forthcoming ODI assignments with Sri Lanka.

Finally the flamboyant star also commented that spot-fixing is not simply associated within Pakistan as such menace is spread throughout the cricketing world. For everyone’s sake, let’s hope that the sport learns from such depressing event.

It hits home how big a deal this has been to think three cricketers are going to be behind bars for varying lengths of time.I hope it sends shockwaves through the game, but I still believe there are more out there [involved in corruption] and that more can be done to catch those apart from those three.They (ICC )could have done it a few months ago and banned these players for life.

It is a sad and tragic day for Pakistan cricket but one hopes it will also result in a new beginning for Pakistan cricket

I was impressed by Mohammad Amir that he admitted and did not get swayed I don't see Amir's career getting over. As far as Butt & Asif go, don't think they will ever play cricket again spot-fixing might happen without captain, match fixing not possible without captain

PAKISTAN CRICKET

Pakistan Cricket Board  chairman Zaka Ashraf wants  three separate coaches for all the major departments of the game. Talking to media  at National Cricket Stadium , Ashraf said: “There should be separate batting, bowling and fielding coaches to help improve the technique of our players. Only that person will be selected who have capability of being Pakistan team coach either foreign or local.” He said his nominated  as a PCB chairman for three years as earlier his notification was for indefinite period. Ashraf said that honest workers would be remained the part of the PCB while dishonest will loose their jobs. “I have noticed some of the cricket board officials are getting big amounts and in return, they are paying nothing to the PCB. Such people will not be tolerated and will be terminated. Only that official will stay here who will perform their duty honestly,” he warned.
Board would try its best to bring international cricket back soon.Though bringing international cricket back is a tough task for us, yet we will try hard to invite international teams here either national or A team of any country,I will meet ICC officials for granting us international events. I will also meet Pakistan players to encourage them and witness third Test.

Pakistan Beat Sri Lanka by 9 wickets in 2nd Test

Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal took his fourth five-wicket haul in Tests as Pakistan completed a facile nine-wicket win within four days in the second Test against Sri Lanka on Saturday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Needing 94 for victory, opener Mohammad Hafeez

remained unbeaten after scoring a quickfire 59 and knocked off the runs with Azhar Ali (29) after Pakistan lost Taufeeq Umar early.

Pakistan bundled out Sri Lanka for 257 in their second innings and restricted the visitors' lead to a paltry 93.

The 34-year old Ajmal with five for 68 led the Pakistan spinners, who took eight out of the 10 second innings wickets to fall, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Ajmal ran through the Sri Lankan tail, keeping the batsmen guessing with his 'doosras', after fellow left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman (2-65) broke a stubborn seventh wicket stand by dismissing Dhammika Prasad.

Angelo Mathews (52 not out) and Prasad (33) added 56 for the seventh wicket to take the lead closer to the 100-run mark.

Pakistan dismissed opener Tharanga Paranavitana (72) and wicketkeeper batsman Kaushal Silva (eight) before tea after scalping Sri Lanka's batting mainstays Kumar Sangakkara (30), Mahela Jayawardene (5) and captain Tillakaratne Dilshan (3) in the morning.

Sangakkara, who scored a double century to save Sri Lanka in the first Test in Abu Dhabi, added 73 for the second wicket with Paranavitana before he was given out lbw to Rehman.

A fuming Sangakkara stormed back to the pavilion, clearly unhappy with the decision, and was soon followed by Jayawardene, who struggled during his 34-ball stay before being bowled around his legs while trying to sweep Ajmal.

Captain Dilshan was undone by some superb reverse swing bowling from left-arm seamer Junaid Khan and was struck right in front of the stumps to a delivery that came in after pitching.

Junaid bowled around the stumps to the right-handers and was able to get the old ball to swing both ways, making life difficult for the batsmen on a wearing pitch.

Pakistan are playing "home" Tests in the Gulf region because of security fears in their own country. The final match of the series is at Sharjah from Nov. 3.
