The 31-year old former Pakistani Captain, known to the cricketing world as “Boom Boom” for his aggressive stroke-play, is a quality all-rounder. A ballistic batsman and class spin bowler, it’s guaranteed Afridi will bring yet another dimension of experience and versatility to the strongly diverse Renegades line up.
The explosive right-hand batsman, Afridi boasts 1326 runs to his name with a strike rate of 157.66.
Since age 16, when he made the fastest international century at the time, he has dazzled the cricket world with feats like smashing 32 runs in a single over and it's no surprise he holds the title for the most ODI sixes in history with a total of 289. Remarkably he now considers himself a better bowler, and has the most international wickets in T20 cricket at 53.
In 2009/10 Afridi was recruited by South Australia for T20, where he played alongside Renegade recruit Shaun Tait in a stand-out season.
Growing up in a large family comprising nine siblings, amidst the chaos of a noisy household, it was those backyard games of cricket that honed his skills and developed his passion for the game.
The friendly and jovial character, like most Pakistani cricketers, looks up to Imran Khan as his role model.
The father of two also loves to get his dose of Bollywood movies claiming he is a big fan of on screen legend Sharukh Khan.
"A world T20 champion. Leg spinning genius, will try to hit the roof, if not out of the stadium"
